Well it’s been a while and a lot has happened since my last Medium article.
I got covid
After two years of managing to ‘avoid’ it, I got it late February this year. I had just become a carer for my Mum when I got it, she stayed and still has been covid-free. I knew before I even got the test kit out, I woke about 3am and felt absolutely floored, this happened for a few days and then it just seemed to go. But then the tiredness continued and it wasn’t until late March really that I felt better. I was twice vaccinated and boosted and forever thankful for that as I know it could have been worse.
Becoming a carer
My Mum became seriously ill towards the end of last year and whilst she is doing better now, the start of this year was a lot of hospital visits and then she came home and it was the second thing to floor me this year. My mental health took a big hit and I’m still in recovery myself from it.
So, how do I work then?
Self-employed people will understand the stress of home and work life, the balance. I now had an extra tier to balance and whilst we had help, it still fell to me to do a lot. My work went on the back burner and I was ever so grateful that I had side hustles that kept me…
